Platform for conducting online lessons on the Moscow Region school portal, recognized as one of the leading solutions for delivering online education during the global pandemic.

Research

01
In the initial stage, I researched the major platforms for conducting online calls. I identified key functionalities that could be beneficial for our new platform and noted areas for improvement.

Focus group

02
Throughout the project, we maintained regular communication with two focus groups: teachers and students. This engagement allowed us to gain insights into the functionalities needed for our platform to address the specific requirements of teaching schoolchildren and students. Additionally, teachers and students from the focus groups tested design prototypes, which were subsequently refined based on their feedback.
  • Teachers
    • Grading during the lesson.
    • Use of audio, video, text materials.
    • Conducting tests within a single interface.
    • Managing who speaks.
    • Formation of groups.
  • Students
    • Connect to the lesson from a mobile device.
    • Chatting.
    • Adaptation of the interface for children with vision problems.

Ethnographic User Research

03
During the peak of the pandemic, all schools transitioned to remote education. I took the opportunity to observe my nephew's lessons firsthand. This experience revealed that teachers frequently take notes during the class, and final grades are typically assigned at the end of the lesson. I incorporated these insights into the development of the interface.

Prototyping

and Testing

04
The functionality of Figma enables us to quickly create a clickable prototype for users, allowing us to confirm our understanding from the previous two stages and address various details before moving on to the final design, incorporating necessary revisions.
It's also important to note that I conducted this prototyping phase regularly throughout the project development.

UI

05
Given that the project is of national importance and serves individuals with various visual impairments, the interface's contrast adheres to the standards set by WCAG 2.1.

Final design

06
The interface is fully adaptive across all major devices. Additionally, users can download a native app from the App Store and Google Play for mobile phones and tablets.

Results

07
The service has successfully passed the tests and was launched first in schools in the Moscow region, then in the Leningrad region and gradually the regions of Russia are switching to this service.
